Students and faculty gathered in the lunchroom today to send off Ola’s Cross Country team to State Championships.

Administration wore Cross Country tees, C-lunch students cheered and team members were presented goodie-bags in the small celebration held at noon in the commons. After four years the team will finally return to State.

It’s no surprise this season would take the team back to State after the exciting season they’ve had. They started their season off by more than doubling their team in size, forming the largest group Ola’s had to date. Since then, and despite a majority of new teammates, they’ve flourished, obviously taking home the win enough times to head to the Championships.

Gidget Gue, athletic director, and Chelsea McCreary, SGA sponsor, organized the send off, and Nick Ellis, assistant principal, gave shout outs highlighting the team and individual’s achievements. Staff and students showed their support and are standing behind their Mustangs as the team heads to State tomorrow in Carrolton, Ga.

Head coach, Torrance “Tee” McGee thanks all those who showed support and says they hope to do their Mustangs proud.
