2017 super bowl motivates student support

"Red & Black Day" will be celebrated on Friday, February 3rd in order to gear up for the upcoming Super Bowl game, February 5th.

Due to the Atlanta Falcon’s victory over the Green Bay Packers in the playoffs, Friday, February 3rd, will be celebrated as “Red & Black Day” throughout the walls of Ola High.

Junior Collin Hemphill celebrates his favorite NFL team, The Atlanta Falcons, by wearing their name. Hemphill has worn different Falcon’s merchandise for weeks straight due to their success in the 2016 NFL season.

The victory has creates a sense of unity within the Falcon fandom which will be displayed as students are invited to deck out in their Falcon gear and participate in the celebrations the weekend will consume.


Students will be allowed to purchase a hat day sticker in the commons area at 7:45 Friday morning. The SGA will contribute all of the hat day proceeds to their Relay for Life campaign to help meet the school goal of $6000.

In team history, the Falcons have traveled to the super bowl once and lost 34-19 to the defending champion, the Denver Broncos in 1999.

On Friday, February 3rd, the halls of OHS will be filled with views of red and black along with the Falcon spirit.
