Junior Marshalls, Maggie Robinson and Sophie Davis lead the graduates to their seats. They put a lot of work into making graduation happen.

On a bittersweet Friday night, Ola High School was proud to let another class graduate through its doors. This was the eleventh graduating class at Ola. Soon they will be parting ways with Ola and embarking on the next chapter of their lives.

Each graduate has their own story of how they got to where they are in life.

“This year I have come into myself. I feel more like myself now than I ever did before and I have to thank Ola for that, but I’m very happy to be leaving,” Tess Hensley said.

For Hensley, being on yearbook has influenced her in a positive way, because the staff was a family. Hensley will be attending University of Alabama in the fall.

Caroline Boutwell is sad about leaving Ola, but she is very excited about her future ahead. She will be attending Valdosta State University.

“I would definitely say like the support and growing friendships, that’s been the coolest part,” Boutwell said, “Getting involved in things like drama and other activities have brought me together with so many friends I will cherish forever.”

There will always be a special place in Boutwell’s heart for Ola.

David Shedd, principal, is proud to see yet another class move on to another part of their lives. Shedd has some words of his own to the Class of 2017 graduates.

“Don’t take yourself too seriously but be serious. Follow your dream, whatever that may be. Listen to be who provide wise advice. Sometimes adults can offer good advice,” Shedd said.
